The man was seriously delusional as well as a notorious animal abuser. I thouroughly denounce Rene descartes and consider La Mettrie to be his only saving grace. The fact that la mettrie even bothered to lower himself to refute Descarte shows that someone from the time period had enough resolve to speak truth to power. "Nuff said.
